On a Dark Desert Highway
On a dark desert highway...nope that's not it! Oh yeah, it was a bright, sunny October morning. Magnificent
weather to travel a little under three hours to the beautiful city of Durham, North Carolina. You couldn't ask for better
weather. Not a cloud in the sky and highs in the 70's. Beerdedbeerman was fortunate enough to have craft beer
loving friends who live within five minutes of the World Beer Fest! Durham is a vibrant city with an amazingly youthful
feel. The downtown area seems to be going through a rejuvenation and is filled with people from all walks of life.
Durham offers a myriad of music, entertainment and tons of fun just a short trip south.

why do I bring up The Waltons, or Afton Mountain, or Nelson County, you ask? Well, nestled in this picturesque area

Happy Place
Warm weather means the BeerdedBeerMan starts his weekly trek to his happy place. Nestled in a peaceful area
between Greensboro and Reidsville, North Carolina, sits a quaint little cabin in a "gated community," but it's not
your average community. The Mrs and I are naturists - before you search that word - we're nudists. GASP! Come
on, you've been skinny dipping, walked around the house naked, or at least thought about it. Twenty years ago, I
discovered this gem. The Mrs calls it a summer camp for adults. Of course, it took me almost two years to convince
her to even try it; now she loves it! There are folks from all walks of life there; doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers,
truck drivers and even computer geeks. And no, it's not like what you think - no hanky panky. Just a great group of
people who enjoy hanging out (pun intended) by the pool, listening to music, playing fun games like water volley ball
and corn hole; eating all day and of course, drinking beer.

On a recent trip to Raleigh, North Carolina, the Mrs. and I had occasion to stay with dear friends who chauffeured
us hither and yon in the capital city of the Tar Heel State. The Raleigh metropolitan area has an estimated 1.3
million people and is home to the largest research park in the United States. And, if the traffic is any indicator,
Raleigh is continuing to grow. With that many people, you must have plenty to do, see and drink. A quick search
shows 15 breweries with a Raleigh, North Carolina address. And that doesn't include the ones in Cary, Holly
Springs, Durham, etc. Several of the more popular ones that you may have tried are Trophy Brewing, Raleigh
Brewing Company, Lonerider Brewing Company and Gizmo Brew Works.

Ah autumn, the time of year when your thoughts turn to pumpkin flavored everything, Halloween, football and,
most certainly, beer! Reminds me of a song. Oooh that smell. Can't you smell that pumpkin spiced latte. The
Mrs. and I have been busy all summer, so we decided to gather together the #brewcrew and head east on US
when they are willing to wear your face on their backs. And what’s better than a group of your favorite people
gathered together to share their love of beer? Why, a puppy, of course! Yes, a puppy. BeerdedBeerMan has a
new mascot and his name is Raylan. Can you say attention grabber? My advice to all the single ladies and
gentlemen is to adopt a dog! Women, men, children, and breweries love them some puppy dogs.
