Ah Autumn
Ah autumn, the time of year when your thoughts turn to pumpkin flavored everything, Halloween, football and, most
certainly, beer! Reminds me of a song. Oooh that smell. Can't you smell that pumpkin spiced latte. The Mrs.
and I have been busy all summer, so we decided to gather together the #brewcrew and head east on US 460.
The entire entourage donned BeerdedBeerMan t-shirts (if you don't have yours yet, hit us up at
www.beerdedbeerman.com). There's nothing like representing with the crew. You know your friends love you when
they are willing to wear your face on their backs. And what's better than a group of your favorite people gathered
together to share their love of beer? Why, a puppy, of course! Yes, a puppy. BeerdedBeerMan has a new mascot
and his name is Raylan. Can you say attention grabber? My advice to all the single ladies and gentlemen is to
adopt a dog! Women, men, children, and breweries love them some puppy dogs.
The #brewcrew met up and headed out toward our first destination, Beale's (www.bealesbeer.com) in beautiful
Bedford County, Virginia. Legend has it that Thomas J. Beale brought back a treasure of gold, silver and jewels from
out west and buried it in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Bedford County. Beale's offers some treasures of its own with
a brewery and restaurant. The casual atmosphere and outdoor space invite you to sit a spell and partake of their
amazing food and refreshing beers. We filled our bellies with homemade pork rinds, wings, nachos and beer.
Located right off US 460 in the town of Bedford, this quick trip turned out to be quite the treasure in its own right. In
fact, two of the beers that are their staples are named Gold and Silver. Clever, huh?!
We loaded up the #brewcrew and set out for our next stop, Apocalypse Ale Works, located off of US 221 in Forest,
Virginia. If you search Apocalypse online, their website is www.endofbadbeer.com. Now that's a great web address.
Apocalypse is the first brewery in Forest, Virginia since the 1800's when Thomas Jefferson brewed beer at his private
retreat, Poplar Forest. The extensive selection of beers at Apocalypse are big and bold with amazing artwork aptly
named to thrill any apocalyptic believer. Well if the end is near, I want these beers! Apocalypse has an enormous
outdoor space with plenty of shade from the sun, games for all ages, and even an outdoor stage to rock the night away.
The best times are shared with friends. And, it's even more fun when your friends share your love for beer and
exploration. Get your friends together and try something new, or have everyone bring their old favorites. Visit a
pumpkin patch, watch the kids rake your leaves (wink wink), hit the road and explore - don't forget the designated
driver! Cheers!

Gold - Munich Helles lager - malt forward nose that's crisp from start to finish. A very refreshing beer.
Left at the Rhinos - Hazy wheat IPA - resin and wheat on the nose (and up the nose if you're not careful) with a
pleasant wheat finish on the back of the tongue.
Peach Tea Blonde - Blonde ale - light on the tongue and slight peach throughout. This one was voted the favorite
by polling the #brewcrew members.
Apocalypse Ale Works, Forest, Virginia
Hell's Frozen - IPA - citrus hops on the nose that carries throughout with nice tropical fruit notes.
Holy Pucker - Gose - lots of lime and salt on the hose of this pucker inducing sour.
